Plan Management is having a provider that helps you manage your National Disability Insurance Scheme funding. This provider, known as a plan manager, communicates with service providers and receives and pays invoices on your behalf.
There is effort and work that goes into managing the funds for an NDIS plan. If you self-manage your funds, it can be very time consuming and can take over 20 – 25 hours of your time every week. A plan manager looks after all the admin associated with your plan and makes sure your providers are paid accurately and on time. A good plan manager knows NDIS funding inside and out and will support you to keep track of your spending and get more out of your funds.
Through plan management, you can access both NDIS registered and unregistered providers. This is something that NDIA does not provide you. A plan manager will also ensure the provider prices keep within the NDIS price guide, so you don’t get overcharged for services.
Using a plan manager gives you more flexibility over the providers you choose, as you don’t need to stick with using those registered with the NDIS. This means that you can claim an invoice payment for any service provider with an ABN that meets your NDIS plan goals.
A plan manager will also alert you when your funds are running low, giving plenty of notice so that you can take the necessary steps to ensure you’re never without support. This takes away the stress of doing accounting for your NDIS plan.
